1999 Chardonnay
VINTAGE
The 99 vintage was warm but rain in the latter part of March slowed ripening. We were fortunate to have a spell of sunny weather from the 28th of March until the 30th when we picked the Chardonnay. The ripe flavour was excellent and achieved at slightly lower sugar levels than the previous 2 years. Sugar at harvest was 12.1°Be compared to 12.6°Be in 1998 and 13.4°Be in 1997. Natural acids were a little higher than those in 97 and 98.
TASTING NOTES
